about
Salty City takes modern rock and infuses it with a healthy dose of 90's-style alternative, grunge, and pop-punk. Their wall of sound is built out of distorted guitars, driving bass, and heavy drums.
The band came together in St. John's, NL, Canada in 2016. Dameion (vocals), Richard (drums), and Mike (bass) played together (and apart) in several projects over the course of their musical careers. Mitch (guitar) joined Dameion in one of those projects and, unknowingly, started the group on a new sonic journey.
Dameion, Mike, and Richard decided in 2015 that the time had come to start a new experiment in original music. The band had a slow start through a number of (recorded) jam sessions and re-imaginings of Dameion's collection of lyrics and chord progressions. Mitch, originally a drummer, was invited to the sessions on lead guitar and brought a new life to the songs. New riffs and lyrics started to emerge from the jam sessions with Mitch, and then those riffs and lyrics sparked other new ideas in between sessions. The flurry of power chords, distortion, and energy that followed was dubbed Salty City!
